Suspect shoots 4 officers in S Carolina, 1 critically hurt

YORK, S.C. (AP) — Four law enforcement officers, including three SWAT team members, were shot and wounded as they searched for a domestic violence suspect in South Carolina, authorities said Tuesday.

Southern states join to promote civil rights tourism

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Southern states that once fought to maintain racial segregation are now banding together to promote civil rights tourism at sites including the building where the Confederacy was born and the motel where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. died.

Downtown Ridgeland was the site Saturday morning of the Martin Luther King Jr. parade, presented by the Garden of Light Committee. The theme was “Together we win with love for humanity.”

Winter Storm Grayson has certainly left a mark on Jasper County and the surrounding areas, leaving behind as much as 6 inches of snow in parts of Ridgeland and 3 inches in Hardeeville, according to the National Weather Service.
