High school students recognized with good citizens awards
The Emily Geiger Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded six high school students with the “DAR Good Citizens Award,” for exhibiting the qualities of good citizenship in their homes, schools and communities.
Chapter Regent Debi Bacon and Betsy Dawson, DAR Good Citizens Committee Chairperson, gave awards to Jasmine Howard, Thomas Heyward Academy; Isabel Noriega, Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School; Morgan Summers, John Paul II Catholic School; Kaitlyn Pangilinan, May River High School; Decker Paulmeier, Bluffton High School; and Acacia Bryant, Estill High School.
Summers received an additional award for her winning essay, submitted for a state DAR recognition.
“These outstanding young people were recognized based on the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism,” Dawson said.
The Emily Geiger Chapter, with members from Bluffton and surrounding areas of Beaufort County, organizes and supports historic preservation, local patriotic activities, and educational outreach through literacy, scholarships and awards.
